A 10-week course designed to put values-based education into action in your community
During this 10-week course, we will explore the importance of values and the roles that they play in shaping the future of our own lives and the impact they have on those around us. Each week, we will be exploring a new and exciting value. Values such as friendship, love, empathy and kindness will be explored by our students. Each week we will read a book written by a child somewhere in the world from the Upschool Library.
These books are handpicked and based on a particular value, and from there a series of activities will ensue. These differentiated activities will be based on purpose and actions in your school community to instill a culture of values-based education where everyone understands that our actions, words and beliefs have an important impact on the people around us. Join us as we tackle some of the world’s biggest problems together to build a better tomorrow through Values and see your community change as your children take the lead.
Teachers and parents will find curriculum-aligned weekly lesson plans inside, with differentiated task cards, activities and videos that will keep your children engaged throughout the entire course. Learning sequences will be released weekly, with each lesson extending your children’s capabilities socially, emotionally and academically. Enjoy!
This ten-week medium-term scope and sequence allows teachers and parents to see the progression of the course and how it aligns with the national curriculum. Teachers and parents are welcome to download a copy of this program before starting the course in their school and edit it as they see fit.
During this course, children will take part in community activities which will allow them to use the values within the school community. The real-world learning aspect of the course allows children to see their values in action and feel the impacts of these actions.
The course has differentiated activities that can be tailored to meet the needs of particular students. Alongside this, the children will explore famous quotes, answer comprehension questions, read books written by other children and write their very own book on values which can be published at the end of the course.
The values-based course allows children to not only grow academically, but also see and feel the fruits of their labour in the community through positive actions and activities.
We take 'real-world' to the next level by designing projects with 'real' outcomes.
We want to teach the entrepreneurs of tomorrow to operate with purpose and ethics.
Our projects bring children, teachers and communities together to work towards a common goal.
We inspire creative thinking and dynamic problem solving. These are the skills for tomorrow.
From graphic design & film making to creative writing and storytelling (and everything in between)
“It has been a privilege for our children to be a part of the initial Upschool program focussing on creating a Changemaking Community. Our students have been engaged from the outset, and we have seen a measurable improvement in not only their literacy skills but also in their empathy towards others and their understanding of how to connect to communities both locally and abroad. The resources that are provided are outstanding and have kept our students motivated towards their goals.
It has transformed the way that we approach teaching within the school, giving our students an authentic purpose and opportunity to make a real world difference.
As a school we are committed to the work that Upschool is doing and are looking forward to our next work with them.”

?
It’s 100% free – yes. Nothing to pay to be involved.
We have 5 year old children right through to adults participating. It’s differentiated and open to everyone.
Either. Whole school engagement is the best way to have maximum impact, but it certainly can be done by one class or by one year level. You can even use it as an extension program for a small number of students too if that works for you.
Absolutely. Anyone can join!
No, not at all. Individuals (adults and children) can go through the course.
